Ade Williams Comments on the Vital NHS Role of Community Pharmacies

With a Delivery Plan to improve access to primary care, NHS England is turning to community pharmacy to support patients who, without a GP prescription will be able to access prescribed medication for 7 common conditions including sore throat, earache, UTIs and sinusitis.

Commenting on the Plan, our Trustee and Superintendent Pharmacist of Bedminster Pharmacy, Ade Williams MBE said “community pharmacies are the most frequented and accessible health setting in England with around 1.2million visits every day and as such, the first NHS port of call for people with common ailments such as sore throats, earache etc.

However, this Plan can ensure even more of the population receive support from local health experts who, as part of a shared consultation, will provide valuable evidence-based self care advice too. This forms a key foundation alongside other sustainable structures, for building an equitable, life and well being enhancing population health model and is most welcome”
